Nicola was born about 1775 in Bugnara, L'Aquila, Italy, the son of unknown parents.
His wife was Giovanna Manna. They were married, but the date and place have not been found. Their five known children were Carmine (c1794-?), Domenico (c1796-?), Lonardo (c1800-?), Venanzio (c1803-1812) and Vincenzo Antonio Angelo (1812-1819).
