Vito was born in 1893 in Castel del Giudice, Campobasso, Italy, the son of Carmine DiSalvo and Anna Falgioni.
His wife was Albina Mosesso. They were married, but the date and place have not been found. Their four known children were Carmen James (1918-1991), Adelaide M. (1924-2011), Thelma Adeline (1916-1988) and James Nicholas (c1920-).
