Maria was born about 1829 in Pratola Peligna, L'Aquila, Italy, the daughter of Giuseppe Antonio Zavarella and Maria Giuseppa Liberatore.

She had two marriages/partners. Her first husband was Abete Liberatore, who she married in ABT 1855. The place has not been found. They had no known children.

Her second husband was Salvatore Presutti, who she married in ABT 1858. The place has not been found. Their only known child was Ottaviano (1863-?).
