Maria was born about 1784 in Pratola Peligna, L'Aquila, Italy, the daughter of Tommaso Zavarella and Felicia Palma diPelino.

She had two marriages/partners. Her first husband was Giacomo Colella, who she married in ABT 1810. The place has not been found. Their three known children were Giuseppe (1811-1814), Anna Giuseppa (1814-?) and Angela Rosa Maria (1817-?).

Her second husband was Francesco Cianfaglione, who she married on 4 FEB 1826 in Pratola Peligna, L'Aquila, Italy. Their only known child was Vincenzo (1827-?).
