Pietro was born on 31 JUL 1815 in Lettopalena, Chieti, Italy, the son of Giovanni Tranchini and Maria Desiderata Palmieri.

He had two marriages/partners. His first wife was Celeste DiLiberato. They were married, but the date and place have not been found. Their only known child was Maria Candelora (1837-?).

His second wife was Maria Anna Lucia DiStefano, who he married on 24 SEP 1842. The place has not been found. Their seven known children were Domenica Carmina (1843-?), Maria Domenica (1845-?), Luisa (1848-1850), Sabatino (1851-1852), Domenicantonio (1854-1855), Vincenzo Giovanni (1856-?) and Domenico (1859-?).
