Giovina was born about 1855 in Colledimacine, the daughter of Cesare Barone but her mother is unknown.
Her husband was Mose Martinelli. They were married, but the date and place have not been found. Their six known children were Rosaria Emmanula (1874-?), Cesare Croce (1878-?), Gilberto (1880-1938), Giuseppe Antonio (1882-?), Olimpia (1883-?) and Giacinta (1885-?).
