Venanzo was born about 1776 in Pratola Peligna, L'Aquila, Italy, the son of Amico Petrella and Orazia Presutti.
He had two marriages/partners. His first wife was Anna Giuseppa Colella, who he married in ABT 1804. The place has not been found. Their three known children were Emidia (c1805-?), Angela Caterina (c1807-?) and Carmine Antonio (1811-1811).
His second wife was Maria Angiola Cavallaro, who he married on 28 MAR 1815 in Pratola Peligna, L'Aquila, Italy. Their four known children were Anna Giuseppa (1816-?), Amico (1820-1822), Anna Pelina (1823-?) and Domenico Antonio (1827-?).
