Raffaele was born in 1895 in Penne, the son of Antonio Camplese and Anna Zopita Evangelista.

He died in 1974 in Harrisburg.

His wife was Elvira unknown, who he married in BEF 1920 in Italy. Their eight known children were Daniel T (>1920-?), Yolanda (1923-1982), Gabriel (1924-1998), Carmela (?-?), Chesidio (?-?), Josephine (?-?), Rosalie (?-?) and Pearline M. (1926-1949).

Original source wording: He worked for the PA Railroad

until 1916 when he returned to Italy to fight with the Italian Army.

After the war was over, the Italian government paid for him to return

to the U.S. and in 1919, he began working for the railroad again.

Either Raffaele or Chesidio's birth year must be incorrect. Fiorindo

Camplese states Raffaele was born in Penne in 1895. Chesidio's

social security record lists his birthdate as May 23, 1895. In an

earlier section of his book, Uncle Fio notes that Antonio and Anna

Zopita moved to Penne after their first child was born in 1893. That

must have been Uncle Ralph, unless they lost a child that is not

recorded.
