Raffaele was born about 1808 in Bugnara, L'Aquila, Italy, the daughter of Paolo Volpe and Costanza DiRenzo.
Her husband was Giuseppe Domenicantonio Diego Castrucci. They were married, but the date and place have not been found. Their five known children were Maria Domenica (1829-1862), Antonio (1832-?), Paolo Antonio (1834-?), Pasquale Antonio (1836-1837) and Emidio Antonio (1838-?).
