Paolo was born about 1740 in Bugnara, L'Aquila, Italy, the son of unknown parents.
His wife was Maria Giuseppa Mastrobiase. They were married, but the date and place have not been found. Their five known children were Francesco (c1764-?), Maria (c1769-1852), Carmina (c1770-1812), Rosa (c1774-1833) and Giovannarosa (c1781-1841).
